Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development (BBSUTECH), Khairpur Mirs proudly announces the successful launch of “The Date Crafters” Stall, an innovative student-led social enterprise developed under the Youth Leadership Community Development Program (YLCDP) in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The event took place on 14/11/2025 at the university campus and marked a significant achievement in student innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural transformation. BBSUTech had the honor of hosting esteemed dignitaries including Prof. Dr. Hussain Hyder, Director YLCDP & UNODC, and Mr. Umar Farooq, UNODC Representative and National Case Study In-charge, accompanied by a national team of students from across Pakistan. Their visit brought appreciation, encouragement, and international recognition to the efforts of our students. The distinguished guests were warmly received and hosted by senior leadership of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development, including: Prof. Dr. Manthar Ali Keerio, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology Prof. Dr. Aftab Ahmed Soomro, Dean Skill Development Mr. Mir Sajjad Hussain Talpur, Registrar, BBSUTECH Engr. Abubaqar Sheikh, chairperson Civil Engineering Technology Department. SAJID KHAN, SWO As a gesture of Sindh’s rich cultural hospitality, the honorable guests were presented with Ajrak and Sindhi Topi as souvenirs. The delegation visited “The Date Crafters” Stall, explored the products, and applauded the creativity, professionalism, and dedication displayed by the student team. The stall featured innovative food products made from Khairpur’s renowned dates, reflecting authenticity, sustainability, and modern food entrepreneurship. This successful execution was led by Mr. Tahseen Javed, student of 22-Batch, Civil Engineering Technology Department, and Team Leader of The Date Crafters, under the YLCDP initiative. Despite the short preparation time, he and his team demonstrated outstanding leadership by managing stall setup, product preparation, protocol arrangements, refreshments, and guest hospitality with exceptional grace and responsibility. Their efforts enabled Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development to be proudly represented on national and international (UN) platforms. The showcased products Date Delights and Date Cupcakes received overwhelming appreciation from guests, faculty, and students for their innovative taste, packaging, and cultural relevance. The Date Crafters aim to promote Khairpur’s natural treasure by converting dates into healthy, modern, and market-ready food products while fulfilling a strong social mission. Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development deeply appreciates the dedication and hard work of Mr. Tahseen Javed and his entire YLCDP team, whose contributions embody the spirit of youth leadership, innovation, and community impact.
