Karachi, April 15, 2025 — Students from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBS-UTech), Khairpur Mirs actively participated in the Regional Round of the Pakistan Universities Debating Championship (PUDC) organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. The event witnessed spirited participation from universities across Sindh, aiming to promote critical thinking, public speaking, and constructive discourse among students. The championship featured parallel sessions for both English and Urdu debate competitions. BBS-UTech students delivered commendable performances, gained valuable experience, and pledged to mentor their fellow students on the benefits of participating in such intellectually enriching forums. Adding to the university’s pride, Ms. Rukhsana Soomro, faculty member at BBS-UTech, was invited to serve as one of the three judges for the English debate segment—an honor reflecting the institution’s growing academic reputation. The Opening Ceremony was graced by Architect Noman Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of NED University, as the Chief Guest. The Closing Ceremony honored Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Former Vice Chancellor of NED University, as Guest of Honor. In a special gesture of appreciation, Engr. Abdul Shakoor Shaikh, Student Welfare Officer and Assistant Professor at BBS-UTech, was invited to distribute certificates among the student volunteers of the event, recognizing their dedicated contributions to the success of the championship.
