BBSUTECH’s YPDC Chapter Ignites Youth-Led Change

Khairpur, Pakistan – The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development (BBSUTECH) proudly launched its Young Peace and Development Corps (YPDC) chapter on April 14, 2025, joining the Uraan Pakistan Youth Movement. Supported by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, this initiative empowers students to lead transformative change. A vibrant orientation ceremony on campus united Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, senior faculty, and enthusiastic students. The Vice Chancellor hailed YPDC’s role in fostering youth leadership, noting that BBSUTECH’s chapter joins a national network of over 110 chapters, including 26 in Sindh. In his address, Prof. Dr. Mahar outlined the chapter’s vision: “Our YPDC students will tackle critical issues like climate change, water crises, and social challenges through innovative events. BBSUTECH is committed to supporting their every step.” This aligns with the university’s mission to blend academic excellence with social responsibility. A Vision for Change The YPDC BBSUTECH Chapter aims to spark meaningful conversations, nurture leadership, and drive initiatives for peace and sustainability. Students will organize events on topics from engineering solutions to agricultural innovation, fostering a brighter future. Student Leadership A faculty committee, led by Engr. Abdul Shakoor Shaikh, Student Welfare Officer, and including Mr. Asmat Memon (Lecturer, MET), Mr. Arif Lakho (Lecturer, Electronics), and Mr. Akhtar Sargani (Lecturer, Civil), selected the following student leaders: - Mr. Tahseen Javed – President - Ms. Dua Rajper – Vice President - Mr. Waseem Panhwar – General Secretary - Mr. Abrar Ali Shah – Media Relations Officer - Mr. Sadaqat Ali – Coordinator Engr. Abdul Shakoor Shaikh praised the support of department chairpersons and the dedication of Mr. Sajid Khan and Mr. Umair Ahmed Farooq from the Student Welfare Office in coordinating the launch.
