BBS-UTech Marks International Mother Language Day
Khairpur Mirs — Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development (BBS-UTech) observed International Mother Language Day on 23 February 2026 with an engaging ceremony highlighting linguistic diversity and cultural identity. The event was attended by students, faculty, and university leadership.
Key Highlights
* Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khokhar, Assistant Professor of English at Shah Abdul Latif University, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing that mother languages shape thought, literature, and cultural continuity, and urging students to take pride in their linguistic heritage.
* Ms. Masooma Kazmi, President, Society of Women Technologists & Entrepreneurs (SWTE), highlighted the vital role of youth—particularly women—in preserving cultural and linguistic traditions through education and innovation.
* Mr. Tahseen Javed, President, Young Peace & Development Corps (YPDC), described language as a powerful instrument for peacebuilding, social harmony, and national unity.
* Engr. Abdul Shakoor, Advisor Student Affairs, appreciated the collaborative efforts of student societies and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to meaningful co-curricular engagement.
* Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, Vice Chancellor, BBS-UTech, commended the organizers and stressed that safeguarding mother languages is essential for sustaining intellectual diversity and national identity.
The program concluded with the distribution of shields and participation certificates, followed by a group photo session.
Organized by the Student Welfare Office in collaboration with SWTE and YPDC, the event reaffirmed BBS-UTech’s dedication to promoting cultural harmony and inclusive academic development.
